Last month, a new restaurant, Escale Mauricienne, opened its doors in Vivéa Business Park in Moka. Here’s a sneak peek…

A congenial and pleasant setting

Located on the ground floor of The Pod building, Escale Mauricienne opens every day from 7.30am onwards. Its varied and scrumptious menu attracts the 1,500 employees who work at Vivéa Business Park, as well as the many visitors wandering the area daily. The restaurant caters for no less than 110 seats each hour! Three times a day: for breakfast, lunch and teatime.

The restaurant is warm and hospitable, ideal for a quick meal or a steaming cup of coffee with colleagues or friends. Customers are comfortably seated inside or under the patio, where they can take in the lush green setting. The cleverly designed architecture projects natural light onto the tables, adding a laid-back feel to the place.

The decor is equally relaxed: paintings of sugarcane plantations adorn the pastel walls, while the furniture is reminiscent of a modern cafeteria.

Chef Reaz helms the kitchen

Chef Reaz, with his 25 years of culinary experience, is a cooking enthusiast. Now in his forties, this dynamic chef earned his stripes by working in prestigious hotels in Mauritius and Seychelles, before settling down at La Clef des Champs, Jacqueline Dalais’ fine dining restaurant. After spending twelve years by her side, he felt ready to “take on new challenges.”

“Today, I manage a young and animated team; it’s such a joy to work in such a peaceful location,” shares the inhabitant of Port Louis. He adds: “Our menu is especially adapted to employees who have a 45-minute lunch break. Service is quick, and they also have a takeaway option.”

A glimpse of the menu

The menu boasts the usual favourites: paninis, sandwiches, croque monsieurs, pasta Bolognese, chicken with mushrooms or vegetables. Lighter options, like the chef’s salad, are also available. Foodies will delight in the homemade burgers and pizzas, which all come highly recommended by chef Reaz. The pizza selection: margherita, chicken or vegetarian.

Typical Mauritian dishes are also on the menu. While the chicken kalia entices the epicureans, the fish vindaloo, served with a side of pulses and rice, has earned a great reputation among customers.

As for the early risers, the restaurant offers a homemade breakfast, with pastries and a choice of omelettes. When paired with a double espresso, expect your taste buds to awaken!
