Commute is a free mobile application that enables you to carpool across the island while unlocking loads of goodies! This Moka Smart City initiative provides you with an easy, cost-effective and environmentally friendly solution.

Commute is very simple to use: drivers and passengers can simply download the app on their phone and register. Commute enables them to find passengers and drivers with a similar journey to theirs and carpool together. When a group of people use a single vehicle to travel to the same destination, it helps reduce the amount of fuel consumed and CO₂ emitted.

An algorithm then converts these CO₂ savings into virtual tokens called CO₂ Coins that you can spend in the app’s Coin Shop, where you will find our partner stores. You will find a list of various offers, which is expected to grow every month.

FAQ

How to create my profile?

As for any other application, create your profile by adding your name, date of birth, home address and a profile picture. This step is very important because it creates a safe and transparent community for better interaction. Insert generic information about your vehicle, if you have one, in order to determine the number of seats available. Adding the vehicle to your profile also allows future passengers to know what type of car they will be travelling in and helps them find you at the beginning of the trip.
Who can use it?

Anyone aged 18 and older can use it as a passenger. To use it as a driver, you must have a valid driver’s license and a vehicle with all legally required insurance policies.

For both long and short trips, you can carpool with friends, colleagues, neighbours or other people.
How to find a carpool?

To find a ride, simply enter your destination, your pick-up location and time. You will receive a notification when one or more matching rides have been found. Simply choose a ride that works for you. For more information before booking, you can contact the driver(s) through the messaging system or check their profile to see their reviews.

Can’t find a ride immediately? You will receive a notification as soon as another user adds a post relating to the ride that you are looking for.
Who is Planatéa?

Planatéa is Commute’s mascot. The more you carpool, the happier Planatéa will be. When you click on it, it will give you a summary of your recent traveling habits and the number of CO₂ Coins in your account.
