Moka, City of Culture is expanding its events calendar for the enjoyment of music lovers. Live Dan Moka is a series of concerts that will provide the perfect opportunity to discover some fresh faces on the local music scene.

“We want to use this project to shine the spotlight on the area’s iconic heritage sites and public spaces while providing a platform for our local artists. Our aim in organising these concerts is to create a new and magical experience each time for the audience,” says Moka Smart City’s Arts and Culture Manager, Mathieu Pigeot. To highlight the city’s charm, the organisers have teamed up with Eureka La Maison Créole to launch the series of concerts.

An affordable, yet exclusive concept

There is no better place to host these first concerts than Eureka, an iconic venue bearing witness to the history of Moka. An opportunity to discover a little-known part of the Domaine, La Maison de l’Étoile. A jewel of Creole architecture with a verdant garden, this warm stone pavilion is a welcoming cocoon that will set the tone for the festivities.

However, you will have to be quick to be able to enjoy these performances, which are as exclusive as the venue where they take place. There are only 120 tickets available per concert, on sale through Rézo Otayo! The price however remains very affordable at Rs 200 per ticket.

An amazing display of talent

This initiative hosted by Moka, City of Culture in partnership with Awanam and Eureka La Maison Créole will provide a true burst of talent. Each concert will bring together an established artist and an emerging talent around a specific musical genre.

So who can you expect for the first concert?

The syncopated jazz rhythms of Philippe Thomas for the launch of his new album, Are you talking to me? with an opening act by the promising Shekina Mootanah from 5.30pm to 8.30pm on 24 March 2023.

Encore!

This first edition will allow you to live a magical experience in sync with the sounds of musical instruments while immersed in a historical place. The City of Culture also has a surprise in store regarding the future of this brandnew event.
