New Born was officially launched on 24 February 2023 at The Pod, Vivéa Business Park. It is located on Royal Road, Moka and has been set up to deliver various forms of therapeutic support through art, movement, theatre, play or even nature and animals. Learn more about this social enterprise and its motives.

New Born has grown out of Raymonde Eynaud’s commitment to help the island’s youth through art therapy. After his death, Béatrice Adam took over the project and brought together a team of specialists to diversify the therapeutic options. Various possibilities of therapeutic and alternative support are now available for people of all ages, including those with disabilities.

“We want to expand the range of possibilities in the field of mediation, which is complementary to the classical therapeutic approach and often allows to overcome a verbal block. Participants can express themselves in their own way in a safe place under professional supervision. At New Born, we use mediation for therapeutic purposes. The work created, the movement used, or the music chosen is not an end in itself, but a tool used in the session to help and support patients,” says the Managing Director.

A trained counsellor specialising in the field of disability, Béatrice Adam is surrounded by experts. A clinical psychologist, an occupational therapist, a psychotherapist and a psycho-motor therapist put their expertise to work through fields of mediation like art, dance, theatre, play or even nature and animals. Three art therapists trained in psychology have been brought on the team to add a liberating approach and provide an emotional outlet.

A dream born in Moka

The social enterprise is emerging on Royal Road, Moka. The reason for this choice is a strategic location that gives easy access to patients from every corner of the island as well as the city’s promising development. Beyond the convenience and central location of Moka, the area is a perfect natural setting for New Born’s activities and future projects.

“We are fortunate enough to have a location that enables us to have a vegetable garden, which moves us one step further towards our goal to create a therapeutic farm. We can see ourselves growing in such a setting to help as many people as possible!” says Beatrice Adam.

Social connection is another key aspect of Moka that reflects the values of New Born. Some activities of this not-for-profit enterprise incur a charge in view of being able to offer its services to beneficiaries who do not have the means. These therapeutic activities are thus open to NGOs and CSR projects to help the less fortunate. New Born’s DNA includes similar human values with those of Moka, such as sharing, communication, acceptance, respect and listening.

This official opening is therefore a major step for a social enterprise that aims to make a positive impact. It paves the way for healthy dialogue that allows individuals of all ages and abilities to regain their voice and move forward with their lives.
