Ever wanted to go on a night trail? Because now you can! The streets of Moka will be waiting for you next month for a thrilling moonlight race.

A night run lit up with a headlamp! That’s what you can expect at the Puma Night Run Moka, which will take place on Saturday, 31st August. This fun and sporty event invites you to discover the urban region of Moka under a different light… or should we say moonlight? The challenge? A 10km long adventure in the heart of the island, under the stars, that’s open to children over 13 years old and adults.

Organised by the sports equipment manufacturer, Allsport (the official representative of the Puma brand in Mauritius), the race is aimed at experienced runners and casual runners alike who’d like to take part in a night trail. And to make it even more fun and lively, the organisers have concocted a series of challenges to take up throughout the evening…

This night escapade will start at 6.30 PM at the Telfair amphitheatre and will loop through Moka Smart City. Runners will pass Curtin University (ex-CTI) and enter La Promenade, a newly-built running and cycling track that links Telfair to Helvétia. From there, they’ll run through the site of the future park of Moka and will then discover its latest residential project – Les Promenades d’Helvétia, , currently under construction. After crossing the Côte d’Or road to Helvétia, they will go through the sugar cane fields before reaching Kendra Mall. On the way back, participants will have the chance to zigzag through the old sugarcane factory of Moka, which was converted into a business centre – Vivéa Business Park : a historic place that combines charm with modernity. Then, they’ll take the Royal Road A7 to Wellkin Hospital and finish in the Telfair precinct – the future city-centre.

The best runners will complete this course in about forty minutes. But beyond sports performance, a night trail is an unprecedented sensory experience. “The calm, the concentration, the stars and the city lights… all your senses are alerted. It’s a trail run, but in another dimension,” says a regular night trail runner.

The night trail is also a show. For runners, they will be cheered on by a large anticipated audience. In 2017, in Port Louis, the 1st edition of the Puma Night Run brought together 1,200 nocturnal urban trailers and a few thousand supporters along the way. For the public, they can expect to enjoy a luminous headlamp show. And after the race, the show goes on with a sound and lights spectacle to reignite the night!
