Moka, Sustainable City, is launching a map showing all recycling drop-off points in the area to support the environmental awareness of citizens and make selective sorting easier for efficient waste management.

After noting the determination of citizens to improve their waste management practices through increased use of sorting bins, Moka, a Sustainable City immediately considered how to further develop this good habit.

We identified a lack of information as the single remaining factor slowing down this move as the area has plenty of drop-off points, sometimes unknown to the public. We thus came up with the idea of creating a map to give precise information to city users and make the good habit of sorting even more accessible. As a good corporate citizen, we have also included the drop-off points provided by private companies such as Emtel and Nespresso. We share the righteous cause of waste management, which has excellent momentum, and it was our duty to take it even further, says Moka Smart Citys Sustainability Coordinator, Anielle Carver.

12 drop-off points

The map lists 12 drop-off points where a total of 9 categories of waste are collected, including paper and cardboard, aluminium, plastic, glass, light bulbs, clothing, used eyeglasses, used coffee capsules, batteries and electrical and electronic waste (WEEE). With just one click, it is now possible to locate the nearest point to drop off the waste you need to dispose of.

This initiative is part of an ongoing effort by Moka Smart City to develop a positive attitude among individuals towards sustainable development issues, including waste management. After a successful campaign to raise awareness about waste sorting and the infrastructure provided for this purpose by the city, the map reflects a clear trend towards such practices to make them become a part of the daily life of city users.

This is another step in the right direction with city users and residents that are fully aware of their duty to protect the environment as its guardians and beneficiaries.
