Moka is an eco-friendly city that promotes sustainable development on a daily basis. But who is behind these initiatives? Meet the smart city’s Sustainability Coordinator, Anielle Carver!
1. What is your role in the smart city?
I am in charge of sustainability at ENL Property. One of my roles is to develop a roadmap for Moka to achieve all its sustainability goals.
2. What are your objectives for the city?
Our areas of development and objectives are based on 6 pillars: mobility, sustainable urban development, waste management, circular economy, water and energy. Our projects therefore address the various issues related to these topics. We strive to meet international certification and best practice criteria
to create a sustainable city and community.
3. What is your approach?
We operate on three levels: by raising awareness among users, by facilitating their access to best practices and by implementing projects with a positive impact on their daily lives and the environment.
4. What would be an example of
an achievement?
We have achieved a number of objectives recently, including the establishment of drop-off points for
all categories of recyclables, the installation of
sensors on our new public drinking water fountains,
the production of compost with the city’s food waste and the implementation of international regulations and best practices at all our construction sites. All of these initiatives add to our efforts to develop the city in full compliance with sustainable development criteria and to obtain LEED-ND certification for the smart city.

Built according to the strict sustainable development criteria Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED),
a US certification programme, Les Fascines is an energy- and water-efficient building with lower carbon emissions ever since the start of its construction.
Les Fascines has generous parking spaces, charging stations for electric vehicles
and a coworking space by Workshop17
with a barista café on the ground floor. Some flexible office spaces are still available.
