 A passion for education:
École du Centre turns 30
École du Centre celebrated its 30th anniversary on 26 and 27 May 2022. A range of activities were organised for the former and current students
as well as the staff to celebrate the school’s achievements. Let’s take a look at a human adventure steeped in time.
This school is part of the network of the Agency for
French Education Abroad (AEFE). It draws its strength from the initial commitment to offer a double French and Mauritian curriculum to its students, moral values classes, the teaching of English from a very early age (which is part of its ambitious language policy), a culture of diversity, the teaching of art and the inclusion of students with special educational needs.
This approach was strongly supported by the founder, Mrs Elisabeth Boullé, and immediately received
a favourable response from the population. Shortly after the opening of the first premises in 1991 in Trianon, École du Centre had to relocate in order to meet
a growing demand. In 1993, it moved to Helvétia, where it opened a primary school and then a secondary school, Collège Pierre Poivre, in 1997. The expansion continued with a kindergarten divided into two preschool levels in 2001 in premises formerly used by Les Petits Futés, and the opening of Lycée des Mascareignes to accommodate the final grades leading to the baccalauréat.
École du Centre currently has 1165 students and 159 staff members.
  CELEBRATING ALL GENERATIONS!
The school is now firmly rooted with branches that have extended through time and space. This anniversary was the perfect opportunity to bring together alumni who have made their way
in their working life, as well as retired teaching staff.
PROUDLY SETTLED IN MOKA FOR 30 YEARS
This institution saw the potential of Moka and is now a testament to its transformation. The area was the theme for various activities during the event, including drawings and sculptures inspired by the mountains of Moka and a run in the heart of nature involving the entire school community.
This outstanding event also allowed the students to develop their environmental awareness. They contributed to
the creation of a mini-forest within the school by planting
the first 30 endemic trees as a commitment to preserve the rich natural heritage that makes Moka so beautiful.
