Zenerasyon Nou Kapav (ZNK): empowering the youth of St. Catherine
X This collective, supported by the ENL Foundation, reached a milestone in its development this year by being registered as an NGO. This neighbourhood (UK not US) organization, which aims to improve the quality of life of its residents, especially the youngest, has been supported by the Foundation since its formation. ZNK has come
a long way since then.
Its already full schedule of tutoring, art therapy, music classes and sculpture workshops will be expanded in 2022 to include Muay Thai sessions, which currently bring together some 20 children.
Another accomplishment? St. Catherine's also welcomed its own media library this year, 95% of which is managed and run by local volunteers. Open three times a week,
it offers thematic sessions and documentary screenings to broaden the horizons of the neighbourhood (UK not
US) children... Quite an achievement for this young organization which welcomed its president, Ms. Samantha Louise, last July.
Such progress is of course only possible thanks to the discreet and dedicated team of the ENL Foundation. "It is a pleasure to put our capabilities at the service of this dynamic citizen movement, and to see the inhabitants of the region mobilize around this promising cause," concludes Joëlle Rabot-Honoré, Project Coordinator
for ZNK at ENL Foundation.
These caring initiatives focusing on youth are all the more important because they have a positive impact on the citizens of tomorrow. P
ENL Foundation heading for 2023!
ENL Foundation contributes
up to Rs 10 million each year to charitable endeavours supporting various types of positive impact projects. These multidisciplinary initiatives focus on various
areas (education, employability, entrepreneurship, women empowerment, art and culture and community development), which provide the structure
for the Foundation’s efforts by 2023. Major projects for the coming year will thus seek to combine recurrent initiatives and new ones.
The successful projects
that will be repeated
include entrepreneurial
and employability training, continuous community development programmes
such as Zenerasion Nou Kapav, educational support, food security through the laying hen breeding programme, the Nou Leritaz community farm and the Mokaray community restaurant.
New initiatives for the coming year include further developing the sustainability hub, “Le ReStore” in conjunction with Moka Smart City and The Good Shop, as well as extending the laying hen breeding programme to ENL employees.
