In 2022, Moka Smart City wishes above all to actively contribute to the promotion of artistic creation on the island. “This year, a number of indoor and outdoor artistic events will be organised in different areas as part of Moka Smart City’s ongoing efforts to develop the cultural life of its people,” says Moka’s Arts and Culture Manager, Mathieu Pigeot.

“The Art Vault takeover: Arte Laguna collection” (hosted jointly with Oficea and The Art Vault) was the first event of the year. It featured several works by 15 local and 15 international artists at Vivéa Business Park from 14 to 27 January 2022. They had previously been exhibited at the Caudan Arts Centre in 2021 as part of the 15th anniversary of the Arte Laguna Prize, a renowned contemporary art competition based in Venice and specialising in showcasing emerging talent from around the world.

The works on display (sculptures, paintings, installations, photographs, etc.) were part of the patronage programme of The Art Vault, a private museum involved in the logistics and sale of artworks in Mauritius. The talented artists on display included Anish Gowriah, Dongli Ma and Simon Back from Mauritius, China and Zimbabwe respectively.
