This year, FoodWise, TIPA and Lovebridge have relocated to Les Kocottes in Moka. These three associations are popular among the people of Mauritius. They tell us why they have chosen this place whose function is, among others, to accommodate associations and contribute to the best interests of the city and its citizens. They share their everyday experiences since moving to these former poultry houses!

FoodWise chose Les Kocottes for a number of reasons: first of all, because the team fully supports the innovative and sustainable concept. “Turning former poultry houses and workers’ cottages into offices is a great way to move towards the circular economy,” says Rebecca Espitalier-Noël. FoodWise also enjoys being in close contact with start-ups and NGOs. “It’s a big plus to call tremendous associations like AMM and Made in Moris, TIPA, Lovebridge, Moka’mwad and Le Wagon our neighbours. We are already working with some of them.” She adds that the rent is also very reasonable due to the nature of these organisations. “We look forward to helping bring new life and energy to this place together!”

TIPA

The TIPA team has moved to Les Kocottes in June and can’t get enough of the breathtaking view of Le Pouce Mountain. “Les Kocottes is set in peaceful surroundings and the Moka area makes you want to settle down, take the time to live, go out and meet the inhabitants. The city is undergoing a profound transformation and we are delighted and lucky to be part of its development and to grow with it”

According to Nathalie, Les Kocottes is “such a calm and pleasant place that I enjoy going to work every day. Sometimes when I feel tired after an intense meeting, I go for a short walk on the lawn of Les Kocottes. When I’m working in the office, it is always nice to have your next door neighbours stop by to say hello or have a quick chat and ask if everything is OK.” Michael joined the TIPA team recently and has quickly found his place at Les Kocottes. He also agrees. “I have always aspired to make a positive contribution to the world around me, and working here has only reinforced my belief,” he says.

Christelle and Jacques-Henri also believe that it was quite obvious for them to work with Moka’mwad in order to protect children and raise awareness of their rights.

Lovebridge

The Lovebridge Support Office and Moka teams chose Les Kocottes for its central location and accessibility. It is also a friendly place housing other civil society organisations. “Working from Les Kocottes enables us to improve our networking and provides us with more opportunities to exchange experiences and strengthen our action on the ground. The place is open to the community, which makes it easier for our beneficiaries in the Moka-Saint Pierre region to come to see us,” says Sandrine Ah-Choon. It is also an opportunity for their team to interact with the ENL team, who “do their best to make Les Kocottes a welcoming and pleasant place!”
