Movie buffs, get ready for the third edition of the Open-Air Cinema, which is returning to Moka Smart City on 11 March!
Looking for a different movie-going experience with your feet in the grass? Then join in at the Telfair amphitheatre in Moka from 7pm to 9pm on the eve of Independence Day, 11 March 2020, for a free 100% local film event open to all!
This initiative aims to bring Moka Smart City to life and promote film creation – especially by local talent. The first two editions have attracted more than a thousand film lovers, who came with family and friends to watch short and animated films, mostly produced in Mauritius.
The programme for the 2020 edition will include the screening of Heritaz, the third feature film by Komiko. This 100% local comedy club has already won the hearts of thousands of Mauritians!
Moka Smart City has contributed funding to this project to promote Mauritian culture: viewers will certainly recognise various locations in the region featured in the film!
Heritaz is both an emotional and entertaining experience, telling the story of a rich planter who, before his death, asks his son to find the three grandchildren he disowned. The plot is about whether these children who have always been treated as illegitimate will ever forgive their authoritarian grandfather, who never agreed to his son marrying their mother.
The filmmaker and director of the Komiko troupe, Miselaine Duval is proud to show Heritaz (released in late January 2020) during this open-air cinema event, “We mainly shot in Moka, and this pleasant city adds soul to the film. Moka Smart City was our main partner and has greatly contributed to the success of this project; we are thankful for the support received! We also hope that the local film industry will continue growing and reach international audiences in the near future.” Komiko’s adventure in the film trade is not going to stop anytime soon!
To prepare for this open-air screening, don’t forget to bring your mats for your comfort (without forgetting a blanket for the most sensitive to cold). Light fare food – including the inevitable popcorn – and non-alcoholic beverages will also be available for sale!
So don’t miss out on this tremendous event: save the date now for a great evening with your friends and family on 11 March!
