Le Rendez-Vous, a favourite concept store among locals and tourists alike, opened its doors 6 years ago in the North of the island. The founders, Marine and Agathe Noël, launched their second shop in Moka on 8 October 2021. It showcases original creations by more than 20 local artisans carefully selected by the two sisters. Here are 3 good reasons to visit them!

1. To encourage local businesses

Marine, Agathe and their team do their utmost to find Mauritian artisans who deserve visibility and support. And there is plenty of talent on the island! We have a fondness for the original locally branded creations, including The Kreol Republik’s funny messages on clothing (“Team Moolkoo”, “In Dhol Purri We Trust”, etc.), Timo’s adventures at the Pamplemousses Botanical Gardens or the Tamarin Saltpans, and Dibwa’s Chowki Kits for children.

2. To promote a green attitude

Buying Made in Mauritius products means reducing your carbon footprint (less transport) and contributing to the local economy. In addition, Le Rendez-Vous is committed to limiting plastic and packaging, and some of the brands on display are proudly green. Aima Dora, for example, uses seaqual, a fabric made from recycled fishing nets. Save a Sail is also involved in upcycling, turning old boat sails into bags, pouches and more. Kokodezil offers solid, non-toxic shampoos and creams, and Artisanatir promotes zero waste with a range of reusable cotton products.

3. To find lots of gift ideas

You will find gifts for all ages, preferences and budgets at Le Rendez-Vous, including children’s and adult clothing, leather goods, decorative objects, toys and fluffies, notebooks and books, skincare products, accessories and artworks. You won’t run out of inspiration!

The boutique in Moka offers a warm ambiance and trendy look for a pleasant shopping experience. “We were looking for a central location to make our partners’ creations accessible to our clientele in the upper part of the island,” says Marine. “Moka is a city on the move that captures the spirit of the times; it is both close to nature and committed to the environment. It is a city that encourages creativity, interaction and connections. In a nutshell, it is a city that suits us, with a shared set of common values. Opening our second shop here was an obvious choice.”
