Moka Smart City is inviting you this year to an unprecedented Halloween celebration. You will have the chance to take part in a special Zumballoween evening on Friday 30 October 2020! Here’s everything you need to know about this event combining thrills and fun for a good cause.

Zumballoween has been designed to fund the complimentary Zumba classes offered throughout the year at the Telfair amphitheatre. You are invited to move along to an electrifying playlist from 7pm to 9pm on Friday 30 October at Lycée des Mascareignes in Moka – and don’t forget your costumes! The event hosted by the Moka’mwad collective will be definitely more intense and different from normal Zumba classes. Just imagine yourself dancing with a witch or a vampire – a combination of chill and thrill!

This event under the guidance of coaches Benjamin Lekh, Kursley Jerome, Pascal Marmitte, Reshma Munbodh and Emma Hermelin is ideal to celebrate Halloween in fitting style. “I hope that Zumballoween will make an impact! With all the participants dressed in costumes and a great playlist, the atmosphere promises to be lively, and the evening terrific!” says Benjamin Lekh about the event to be held in a few weeks.

Zumba appeals to young people and adults alike and is an ideal sport to work out all your body’s muscles while having fun. Originating in Colombia in the 1990s, this dance-fitness programme has spread across the world since the start of the millennium and has turned into a global trend, even on our island where, for example, it is taught in Moka every week!

“In addition to bringing together the people of the region around a really nice concept, we hope that this event will promote the sports activities organised at the amphitheatre while allowing us to fund more activities. This is a vast programme to keep attracting the people of the region!” says the Moka’mwad collective’s manager, Ketty Lim Ka Lan, about the aim of the event.

The free Zumba classes at the Telfair amphitheatre have already become a regular feature of the region and a weekly fixture for many enthusiasts. The Moka’mwad collective is hosting this free event to encourage everyone to perform physical activity, interact and above all, have fun while doing a sport that inspires joy and good humour. These outdoor classes, with a superb view of the Moka mountain range, enjoy great popularity.
